"Welcome!"
"America's richest blessing is her people. They are the real strength in her grass roots, and that is what township government is all about. It is often described as "the last bastion of true democracy".
"Township government is the oldest form of government in our country; yet it is probably the one people are most unfamiliar with. It is a pleasure for me to have this opportunity to introduce you to current township government and outline our many fine services."
"Township services touch the lives of most of our residents. We are small, accessible, responsive, and cost effective claiming less than one and one-half percent of the entire real estate tax bill."
"Please take the opportunity to browse through this web site and become better informed about what we do to serve you."
General Assistance
"Township government was formed for the purpose of assisting low income, homeless, and unemployed residents. Today's General Assistance program is funded through real estate taxes. Assistance with food, rent, utilities, and medications is available to qualified residents. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications are taken from September to May, or depending on available funding. Access DuPage applications are also taken by appointment only. The General Assistance office operates a food pantry based solely on private contributions. It also administers Salvation Army funds for Lombard residents. To meet with a caseworker, please call 620-2400 for an appointment, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m."

Du Page Senior Citizens Council in the Village of Lombard, Illinois USA Growing older has many benefits – among them are wisdom, maturity and experience. But aging can also bring obstacles that, for many seniors, can make life challenging. Health problems, financial difficulties, and loneliness can make everyday life more difficult.
Since 1975, DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) has been helping the senior citizen population of DuPage County. DSCC is a not-for-profit, community based, volunteer driven agency, devoted to enriching senior life. Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers, a variety of programs are offered to help seniors live safely in their own homes and communities, and provide them the opportunity to maintain their physical and mental health.
There are over 80,000 community-dwelling seniors (65+) living in DuPage County. The percentage of seniors in DuPage County is growing at a faster rate than that of the State of Illinois, or of the nation. In the last ten years alone, the 65 and over population in DuPage County grew by 30%. The 85 and over population grew by 79% since 1990. With the increasing number of elders who vastly need our services, coupled with a challenging economic climate, we are committed more than ever to helping people of all ages understand and respond to the needs and concerns of the older population.
Our Mission
The DuPage Senior Citizens Council initiates, delivers, monitors and coordinates services, which promote the ability of older persons to live their lives in dignity.

How Nature's Path Came To Be
It may be hard to see when walking into one of our two modern cereal processing plants, but all of this took root on a simple family farm back in the 30s when Rupert Stephens inherited the the family farm, married Gwen, and embarked on the difficult life of a farmer. Mountain Valley Farm was 89 acres of hard living, a place to grow field berries and a family. The kids came along one by one. The youngest they called Arran, after a wind-soaked Scottish island. Arran's brother, Godfrey, went on to become a renowned artist www.godfreystephens.com who lives in Victoria, BC.

Fresh Express - Over 80 Years of Freshness-- Salad Vegetables Why So Fresh
At Fresh Express, freshness is what we’re all about.
It’s true. We take freshness very seriously. From the time our products are tiny seedlings until the moment they are delivered to your local store, we meticulously oversee every step of the process. Our stringent standards, regulations and internal audits mean that no leaf escapes our watchful eyes.
Our veteran growers know that maximum freshness equals maximum nutritional value, so we pinpoint the exact moment when our leafy greens are ready to be picked. Our lightning-fast “harvest-to-cooler” process ensures that our products retain their just-picked flavor and nutritional goodness.
We’re always on top of the latest technology: our multimillion dollar cooler system achieves the perfect temperature, humidity and oxygen levels to produce the perfect salad. It’s this attention to detail that has helped us set the standard for freshness in the industry. And we’re constantly raising the bar. Fresh, nutritious, delicious. At Fresh Express, we won’t settle for anything less.

Stark Brothers Nursery Stark Brothers Nursery A growing legacy since 1816...
In 1816, James Hart Stark and a small band of pioneers moved west from Kentucky and settled on the west bank of the Mississippi in a place that would later become Louisiana, Missouri.
James Hart Stark brought with him a bundle of apple scions. From this bundle grew a thriving nursery business which became the world famous Stark Bro’s Nurseries and Orchards Co.
By carefully selecting and propagating only the best varieties, James Stark started a tradition. Dedicated to earning a reputation for quality, Stark Bro’s gained world leadership as a developer and promoter of outstanding fruit varieties. The most famous of these was the Stark Red Delicious Apple in 1893. In 1914, the Stark Golden Delicious Apple was discovered and developed.
This work led to an association with famed plant wizard Luther Burbank. He selected Stark Bro’s to carry on his work and willed over 750 varieties to the company.
Paul Stark, Sr. was instrumental in writing U.S. legislation creating plant patents in the ’30s. Today, new fruit varieties may be patented just like other products. Stark Bro’s holds patents or exclusive propagation rights to many patented varieties of fruit.
Today:
Stark Bro’s continues to operate in the tradition of the past 190 years. Our president’s father was instrumental in setting up the Stark Garden Center in Louisiana. Stark trees have been grown on their family farm for many years and continue to be grown there today.
In the Stark tradition, new and innovative products continue to be introduced through the Stark Bro’s catalog and web site, including the new Stark Kwik Krop™ Fruit Tree, the quickest bearing trees ever offered. Most of Stark Bro’s Custom Grafts and some fruit and nut trees are grown in “ ” pots to naturally air prune the roots, creating a dense mass that transplants and establishes quicker, eliminating loss due to transplanting, accelerating rate of growth and inducing early flowering and fruiting.
Stark Mother Lode™ Berries are cloned from the tissue of only the finest, most productive mother plants. All are uniform in size, shape, quality and growth patterns, certified disease and virus free and potted to keep the root system intact.
Tomorrow:
Stark Bro’s intends to be at the forefront of the industry in innovation and productivity. You can look forward to many years of new Stark products to meet your fruit tree, small fruit, nut and landscaping needs in the future. As we move into this new century, look for us. We will be there.
